ABOUT

James is a Media Arts and Design major at James Madison University with a concentration in Converged Media. He is conducting his studies through the Adult Degree Program while serving as a full time member of staff within the University’s Office of Advancement Gifts and Records.

James’ goal is to complete his studies and to continue to develop his career within the interactive media industry. He particularly enjoys designing and coding aesthetically pleasing, functional websites.

James recently contributes as a writer to the The Harrisonburg Times, an online news outlet covering a diverse spectrum of news, views and opinions. A recent article, entitled Horse trading starts after UK Elections, was an examination of the inconclusive results and the negotiations to create a coalition government.

MYFC screenshotMake Your Figures Count is a consultancy firm based in the United Kingdom. James designed and launched a revised website following a restructuring of their core business practice.

CheckoutFurniture.com is the online presence for local store Furniture and More. James was able to create an initial brochure site before implementing a fully functional e-commerce and content management system.

AIS Homepage screenshotAdvancement Information Services required a complete overhaul of their existing site. James restructured, revised and updated the content of the site, migrated it through two content management systems creating an interactive experience.

AIS Homepage screen shotUniversity Advancement were looking for a medium to disseminate information to their constituents on the implementation of a new database system. James participated in the consultancy stages, designing and content creation of this site.

FLASH SITES/VIDEO

Still Meadows Enrichment Center and Camp were seeking an online campaign to complement a mail solicitation. As part of an Interactive Design for Web course assignment, James created a Flash video and mini-site that would display improvements made to the grounds and the need for further donations. Above is the video introduction for the mini-site.

Movement and Sound was a project utilizing Adobe Flash CS4 where James was required to create an animation short demonstrating motion and reaction to and audio track. Above is the result of his work.

PHOTOGRAPHY

James is an avid photographer, he particularly enjoys photographing the wildlife and scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountain’s and Shenandoah Valley. Below is a slide show featuring a selection of macro and panoramic photographs.

James has been a frequent contributor to television station WHSV by providing raw video footage of local incidents as they happen. Below is footage of a police chase that terminated in Harrisonburg, VA.
